During the time of Alexander, the Temple of the Oracle (Amun) and the Um Ubayda temple were linked by a ceremonial road. This is the remaining wall of the Um Ubayda temple. The Um Ubayda temple was relatively intact until an earthquake in 1811 damaged part of it. Then the remainder was blown up by the Ottoman governor in 1897 for construction stones for the police station in Siwa.
